STATEMENT FROM THE PRINCIPAL - MR MARTIN GOMEZ
The importance of Website hosting and Internet accessibility in school for
E-learning programmes and information processes world wide, both for the Students, teachers and the whole School community cannot be over –emphasized in this present age of high level Information Technology.
Apart from empowering students and teachers with tools to use, technology as a means to improve the quality of their education, it also enhances information reasoning and communication skills. Also, it promotes the acquisition of skills to solve day-to-day challenges of life. And more importantly it serves as a tool to link and give easy access to and from the other parts of the world.
With the above strong conviction in mind, when I took up the leadership of this institution in September 2005, I pursued vigorously this vision and within 6months I successfully completed the configuration of Internet access / facilities with 22 workstations fully operational to the School’s Computer Lab in March 2006.
In my relentless efforts, that long awaited dream of designing, configuring, registering and hosting the School Website is now accomplished.
Today, it is gratifying to note that, we have registered and hosted, to the glory of God, Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School Domain in the world website, thus making Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School, Banjul, the Gambia, an integral part of today’s global village of telecommunication. Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School, website can be viewed in the Internet website www.saints.gm
With this, we have successfully removed that age-long barrier of not having an immediate link with the outside world. Today, we can link and be linked up to our old students, friends and all the stakeholders of the school anywhere in the world.
This is a beginning of a new dawn in Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School when the history of the school is being re-written for better. Therefore, I am calling on all old boys, friends and well wishers of this great school to join hands with me in re-positioning this school with a view to restoring and maintaining its past glories.
